Synopsis: I am going to use skittles to produce my stop motion animation the skittles will spell significant words and phrases in the song "2pac - Letter 2 my unborn child" my stop motion animation will be 15 - 30 seconds

McDonalds Happy Meal Stop Motion Animation Commercial

This stop motion animation commercial was produced by McDonalds as a way of promoting their healthy new alternatives to some of their products the video is 2 minutes and 11 seconds long. It consists of the cartoon farmers pumping oil and cutting fruit and vegetables. The commercial is good in the sense that it is well constructed and makes sense and there is no unnecessary information during the production. The language is suitable for all ages as it does not contain profanity. This maybe watched buy viewers as surveillance as it contains information that could be used as information for living

Stop Motion Animated Short Film "ROOMATE WANTED: DEAD OR ALIVE" Animation by The Animation Workshop

This stop motion animation was created for entertainment purposes and to create a sense of diversion as people may watch it to escape from everyday problems and routine or this could be used for personal identity as some viewers may find themselves reflected in the text as they may be searching for a room-mate. The production does not contain any dialogue only a voiceover and background music. The content is suitable for all ages as there is no explicit content. I found the content boring mainly because I do not relate to it however somebody looking for a room-mate or somebody who has an annoying room-mate may find this interesting or entertainment

I searched for popular stop motion animations and found that many people use skittles for their stop motion animations and it is very prominent amongst the general public.

During research i watched this video and it inspired me to model my stop motion animation after.

Music - the music aspect is really interesting as the director has used sweets to depict the lyrics and message in the song. The director uses many pieces of candy to show the viewer the moral of the song he used, he isolates a blue skittle and shows "his" isolated journey through the work what reinforces and makes it clear to the viewer that the skittle is lonely is the music the lyric " the loneliest number is the number 1" helps us understand the the skittle is going through a lonely time which gives the story of the stop motion strength

Sound - Sound effects are very useful in this piece because it gives the skittle personality and helps portray its mood for example when the skittle is walking by itself and see a group of gummy worms as friends it sighs with sadness giving the viewer the impression that the skittle is envious an another example is when the skittle sees another bag of skittles and makes a shocked noise showing the viewer that the skittle is excited to potentially make new friends and the usefulness of the sound effects in this piece have inspired me to use sound effects in my work

Style - This piece of work has inspired me to use skittles as it is a good idea because it is unique and it is flexible there are a numerous amount of different things you can do with skittles so my choices are not limited.

My stop motion animation did not turn out as good as i expected, this is mainly due to my lack of planning. I had an idea but couldn't put it into play because my ability to create certain images with skittles was limited so i had to stick to the basic spelling and wasn't able to tell the story i hoped to that would have went well with the music,

The music i used was not bad but the images i created in the production did not go well with the song especially because it wasn't in synchronization with the words i wished to write full sentences so that my production would reflect my primary research, i asked people what lyrics in the song mean something to them so i could include it in my final production

i used sound effects to accompany the movement of the skittles but thats it i didn't really see any room for more sound effects.

one of my dire mistakes was my poor camera skills on this particular day, the camera was not aimed properly on my canvas and also was not focused using the same ISO throughout my filming making my production seem lazy,

there are some strong points in my stop motion animation for example the way i made the skittles morphed into other words and numbers.

if i could redo this work i would rectify my camera work and the images i created using the candy and i would've tried to tell a story rather than just spelling words
