When it comes to concept i think that my production fulfills its purpose, it was made to show a day life of a roadmap and it was successful in doing so in my opinion, however the production didn't go as smoothly as planned.
The camera work was not done to a professional standard and neither was the sound and lighting
The camera work was poor, to begin with I didn't get a variety of shots or angles in addition to this the focus on the camera was not consistent and had to be changed during filming which makes it possible for the viewer to hear thus affecting my production and making it seem unprofessional. The sound quality in some scenes were bad but this is understandable as it was a cause of the location for example in the flat building there is an echo so it affected the projection of my voice in a couple scenes, this was not taken into consideration before hand this issue was also unrectifiable on Adobe Premiere, this taught me to always do a sound check before filming to ensure everything goes according to plan. In my production no artificial lighting was used it was all natural but this is a result of me not having lighting equipment the lighting quality of my production is not bad but its just not perfect however seeing as my production is meant to be reality and not cinematic this makes it excusable as the production looks more raw and uncut.
I think my pre production was pretty good, I looked at various productions of a similar style and chose techniques that I could apply in my work, I looked at different mockumentaries such as Swil and Hood documentary that were filmed in London this is where i took most of my inspiration from. My primary research was helpful, it aided me in finding out what the daily activities of a road man is and how they dress and talk i tried my hardest to apply this in my production and i believe all the traits of a roadmap are present in my characters behavior
i took location into deep consideration as it is of paramount importance in this production, I had to use my area to my advantage in order to show " the dirty south" Thornton Heath is very grimy and not well kept so i used this area to show what environment road men are used to also the use of lakeman court was effective in imitating the Projects which was my goal
i did not write a script as i did not think the dialogue should be planned because it wouldn't make the production look natural however i now know that, that was a mistake, the dialogue would have been better if it was to have been planned, i could have incorporated some banter in my scenes and made my production more comical. i noticed in my production that i repeat myself a lot but this could have been avoided if i was to write a script.
All in all i think my research and production were good but theres little things that could've been done to improve it, if i had the chance to do it all again i would ensure i write a script to make the verbal content a lot better than what it was furthermore i would use a camera that my partner is familiar with i would also do a sound and lighting check.
