Genre is a style or category of art, music or literature

e.g

Horror

Crime

Drama

Romantic Comedy (hybrid)

Action

Adventure

Each Genre has conventions which are shown through iconography for example a the conventions of an action genre maybe a gun or explosives a prime example of a film where guns and explosives are used is the James bond franchise.
